Annual slide jump

Do crewmembers have to perform an annual slide jump?

The first thing to consider is the type of plane the operator has in its fleet. Some planes don’t have slides, so they would not do a slide jump. For those that do have slides, during initial training the crewmember trainee must perform a slide jump.

Then during recurrent training, once every 24 calendar months, flight attendants are required to observe a slide jump, meaning a video of a slide jump would fulfill the requirement. Some airlines may choose to have someone demonstrate a live slide jump for the training class to observe and meet this requirement.
