Sterile Cockpit
Understanding sterile cockpit
Sterile cockpit is a regulation that prevents unnecessary communications between crewmembers in the flight deck and between the flight crew and flight attendants during critical phases of flight. It is important for flight attendants to understand this regulatory procedure to know when they can’t contact the flight crew, but more importantly when they can. There have been accidents that could have been prevented had the flight attendant said something to the flight crew, and there have been accidents prevented by flight attendants interrupting sterile cockpit. Flight attendants need to be immersed and tested on this subject to understand it well. Their lives, and the lives of everyone on board could be saved by the flight attendants knowing when they can and should interrupt sterile cockpit.
Unfortunately, the Sterile Cockpit quiz does not display correctly in phones, however, it does display correctly on a computer or tablet. I apologize for the software limitations.
