Engine fire or failure

On the ground

To respond to an engine fire on the ground:

1. Aircraft will stop. The flight crew will activate the engine fire extinguishers.
2. PIC – if necessary, will initiate an evacuation and notify FAs.
3. SIC will deplane to assist in evacuation from outside aircraft.
4. FAs when advised, assess conditions, command evacuation.

In-flight

To respond to an engine fire/failure in flight:

1. The flight crew will notify the Purser after their required checklists are complete. Ask for any special instructions.
2. Purser will notify ALL other FAs.
3. FAs begin securing the cabin while waiting for instructions.
4. Anticipate a normal landing.
